HAMILTON, CANADA (April 29, 2016): September Seventh Entertainment Limited announced today the nominees for the 2016 Hamilton Music Awards which take place at 6PM on Sunday May 29th at the Dofasco Centre for the Arts. Leading the nominations are Lee Harvey Osmond (4), Lori Yates(4), Terra Lightfoot(4), Walk Off The Earth(4), Whitehorse(4), Benjamin Dakota Rogers(3), Duane Rutter(3), Monster Truck(3), The Dirty Nil (3), Annie Sumi(2), Ben Caplan(2), Caroline Wiles(2), Diana Panton(2), Finger Eleven(2), Frank Koren(2), Jace Martin(2), Jennifer Budd(2), Junior Boys(2), Lee Reed(2), NLX(2) and Pet Sun(2). A complete list of nominees is included below.

Hamilton Music Awards Producer/Founder, Jean-Paul Gauthier stated, “There has never been so much voodoo in our music community.” Gauthier continued, “When you have a Record of the Year category that includes Walk Off The Earth, Monster Truck, Lori Yates, Lee Harvey Osmond, Whitehorse, Terra Lightfoot, The Junior Boys and The Dirty Nil – you know your town has got some magic.”

The Industry Award nominees, Rising Star Search, Festival and ticket information will be announced in early May. Tickets for the Hamilton Music Awards are on sale now at the Dofasco Centre for the Arts box office or http://www.theatreaquarius.org.

Fans, artists and industry are reminded they have until midnight on Friday May 6th to cast their votes in the People’s Choice categories on this website.

The Hamilton Music Awards and Industry Awards were established in 2004 to promote and recognize Hamilton’s vibrant music community. The Music Awards are broadcast nationally each year and have featured appearances by Monster Truck, Daniel Lanois, Arkells, The Reason, Ian Thomas, Lighthouse, Eugene Levy, Crowbar, Jackie Washington, Garth Hudson, Teenage Head, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Whitehorse and many more. To date, over 650 awards have been given to local artists and industry. The festival takes place over two nights in venues throughout Hamilton’s downtown core.
