A Low Key Night With Howard Jones

There's an '80s superstar playing an intimate show in Niagara Falls Thursday night, but you'd be hard-pressed to find anything on it.

Even Howard Jones chuckles at the lack of promotion for his show at the Hard Rock Cafe, wondering if his promoter works for Spinal Tap. "Most of the shows are sold out, and the Hard Rock (show) is struggling," he says, on the line from a tour stop in Windsor. "People say they can't even get tickets when they go online."

That might be because the Hard Rock Cafe's own website doesn't even mention the show. It's only through his own website and word-of-mouth that Howard Jones' fans caught wind of the gig, which starts at 9 p.m.

Jones jokes he wanted to be low key this tour, but not that low key.

"You can say it's a secret gig," he says. "So secret you can't even buy tickets!"
