Grub.lst is gone, Grub Customizer to the rescue

I've been installing Linux on a number of computers lately, boxes destined for recycling by the demise of Windows XP. Otherwise fully usable, and deserving of a reincarnation.

Seems Grub has been replaced by Grub2, which finds any once-bootable partition on any attached drive, and adds the option to the boot menu. Editing the fluff from this list was once easy, just find grub.lst and use a text editor to set up your boot options. No longer- now I find a grub.cfg file with a "do not edit this file" warning.

A quick search found: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/43471/ho ... -easy-way/

So, I started Synaptic, found Grub Customizer, and installed it. Works as advertised, you can delete superfluous entries, set the order, etc with a nice user-friendly screen.

Life marches on, Linux keeps getting better, and Windows keeps losing relevance.
If none of this makes any sense to you, don't worry. If you are MoodyBlue, You're welcome ;)
