CRTC Taking Action

I found this interesting and am delighted to see the CRTC finally taking action. I cut my landline over a year ago because of the seemingly non-stop nonsense calls.

BTW: haven't missed my landline even once.

The Canadian Revenue Agency phishing scam must be behind the CRTC's latest proclamation that puts the onus on telco service providers to identify and block nuisance calls. In a release yesterday, the regulator said phone companies have 90 days to develop technical solutions to block illegitimate nuisance calls within their networks..

The CRTC is also "encouraging telecommunications service providers to offer their subscribers call management features. Service providers must report to the Commission within 180 days with details on the filtering services they offer or propose to offer to their customers." It said a follow-up decision regarding solutions to address the use of caller ID spoofing is imminent.
