RIP: C.J. Feeney–aka Lee Van Leer, a multi-instrumentalist and organist and arranger for Jack London and the Sparrows (which evolved into Steppenwolf), is reported to have passed away in Toronto on Jan. 10 of unknown causes according to friends and his website. He was 72.

With the Sparrows, Feeney had several hits for Capitol Records in Canada including “If You Don’t Want My Love” and “Our Love Has Passed”. He went on to perform with a number of bands in and outside the city, and more recently released Thumbs Up, an independently produced blues-laced solo album.
